The Queen of Goodwood – Anneke Scheepers

With a decorated bowls career and a singles record unlike any other in Western Province, Anneke Scheepers delivered a composed and commanding performance to claim the WP Open Ladies Singles title, capping off an outstanding run in this year’s tournament.

The 2025 silver medallist and one of the finest singles players in the country, Anneke once again showcased her resilience and precision on her way to lifting the prestigious WP Open Ladies Singles trophy.

Finals day was played on Sunday, 25 January at the beautiful Glen Country Club in sunny and windless conditions. After winning her semi-final against Maggie van Zyl by 21–17, Anneke faced Michelle Reynolds in the final.

Despite determined resistance from her opponent, Anneke remained focused under pressure, displaying exceptional tactical awareness and mental strength at key moments. Her calm demeanour and consistency proved decisive as she secured a hard-fought 21–19 victory.

With attention now turning to the BSA Masters to be played in Pretoria from 6–8 February, this prestigious national event will feature the best singles players in the country. With the district title now under her belt, this victory places Anneke in an excellent position to pursue further national honors.
