Goodwood Claims Back-to-Back Victory in the WP Midweek

Goodwood Bowling Club emerged triumphant in the WP Midweek, delivering a great performance to secure the title against Mowbray in the final at WPCC on Wednesday, 25 March.

The WP Midweek is the oldest competition in Western Province Bowls, having been played since 1938. This is the first time in history that it’s been won back to back! After losing the first two games in the sectional play, the “never give up” attitude certainly kicked in and the team remained unbeaten for the rest of the sectional games and throughout the playoff games straight to the final and being crowned champions.

The winning side, comprised of Johnny de Sousa, Les Bradley, Kola du Toit and Mac Mukuddem proved to be a formidable combination throughout the later stages of the tournament. Chris Jansche van Rensburg and Gladys Bradley also played in the earlier rounds of the competition.

There was high quality bowls on display across the tournament, but Goodwood’s winning ability over the 8 games played against formidable opponents, ultimately set them apart.
